The Feast Day of St Mary of the Cross MacKillop

On Monday 8th August, we travelled by bus to Temuka to join with our fellow Josephite schools - St Joseph's Temuka and Fairlie and St Patrick's Waimate.  We started the day with a liturgy where we heard the life story of Mary MacKillop and were addressed by Sister Patricia a Josephite nun who has continued the mission of Mary MacKillop all over the world.  Then we had morning tea and the children of the four schools played together.

We then split into groups and did chalk portraits of Mary MacKillop, investigated the Mary MacKillop memorial room and chapel, and did scavenger hunts. This was followed by lunch and more play time.  It was a great day and our house leaders are presently writing thank you letters to our hosts.

Congratulations to Conor, Cooper, Joel, Koby, Will, Bryn and Eve (absent) who all received JAB rugby awards at the weekend.  Keep your eye out for the Courier next week as they will be in it.

At the end of the school day
At the end of the school day children who are being picked up leave their class lines and go into your care.  We respectfully request that you continue to enforce school expectations in this time so that the children continue to speak respectfully, follow adult instructions and keep their hands to themselves.   This will help us maintain positive behaviour at all times.  The red flags indicate that the grounds are not in fit state to play on and if used, will be damaged for future play.  We thank you for your cooperation with this.

Ma te Atua e manaaki, God Bless
